Stupid "report abuse" option
I have personally been a member of Yahoo Answers for almost two years now. But my questions and answers has been reported by the "community" so many times. Every time I get an email from Yahoo subjacting "your content has been reported by Yahoo community" I feel like terrorists would blow up their headquarter. I do never post abusive content on Yahoo answers but they are frequently reported by people just because they do not agree to my answers.
Gaining and loosing influence in community
If your question/answer is reported by a user who has high level of influence on Y!A, your content will be removed without being reviewed by Yahoo Answers Customer Care. After a day you get an email from Yahoo and if you want your content to be restored you have to email them back. After 4-5 email conversations, if you are lucky you will get your content reposted on the site.
I personally think there is not gaining and loosing influence. If you are a top contributor and you report a question most likely it will be deleted or if many people report a content, it will be deleted.
If 10 people reports my answer that does not mean they are right and I am wrong. May be they simply do not agree with my point of view.
Misguiding Community Guidelines
Yahoo Community guidelines does not state many points that they should have listed. The one I usually have problem with is "Language". I am an 100% Indian guy so once in a while I like to post content in my native language Hindi. Guess what, those questions and answers will be deleted in few hours. Even if I post Hindi answers in English(e.g. kaise ho!), they get deleted.
Yahoo answers should do something about users who make false abusive report.
Stupid staff
Yahoo is one of those company to own and most repulsive staff ever. When they are proven wrong they do not respond back. Last month I got one of my question deleted. I knew that it did not "violate" community guidelines, so I replied back to their mail and I have not received a response from them.
They do not give specific reason on why the question/answer was deleted. They would only say that it violated community guidelines.
Yucky voting system
I hate this feature so much. You get to vote once you reach level two!? What type of grand ma's story is that.
I do not see one reason how voting system help the question asker.
If I am answering a question from India, I would definitely have a different point of view on a topic than an American user would. Does that mean they can point at my opinion? Is it exercising freedom of opinion?
If some one really want to point at my opinion please come on streets and I will take more than just a butt from you.
Bad Formatting
Yahoo has really stupid coding system that screws up codes every now and then. They shutdown their sites every week for some kind of maintenance.
Yahoo answers refuses to give credit to any site on net
Yahoo could easily list a research page on their site linking Wikipedia, Britanica site. But they won't. I do not know for what reason but they want to keep the users on their site. I am sure they don't like people posting links to google on their answers but their is nothing they can do about it.
